German Ballads
How do Goethe, Schiller, Heine and Droste-Hülshoff discuss the eternal questions of life and death, as they are now unfortunately particularly topical for us in Corona times? How do Bach, Folkerts, David and Paganini put these questions into music, the "art beyond language"? The reciter and violinist Ihno Tjark Folkerts has found some answers to these questions in his new program "Famous German Ballads". He recites a selection of the most beautiful works of German poetry and places them in an inspired dialogue with music for solo violin. "Der Handschuh" and "Der Taucher" by Friedrich Schiller, Goethe's "Der Gott und die Bajadere" and "Der Erlkönig", Theodor Fontane's "Die Brück' am Tay" and "Der Knabe im Moor", the surrealistic work of Droste- Hülshoff: These and other ballads will (re)inspire the listener thanks to the beauty and violence of language!. Just as top-class as the language is the music interpreted by Ihno Tjark Folkerts: J. S. Bach's Partita E-major, three "character pieces" by Mendelssohn contemporary Ferdinand David, caprices by Niccolo Paganini and a freitonal composition by Hero Folkerts, the violinist's father. The concert guest can expect a journey into an almost forgotten, but beautiful musical-literary world, which is worth rediscovering! To round off this double pleasure, a glass of wine or sparkling wine, as it is served during the concert break, will certainly fit... An inspired and inspiring program in a class of its own!
