Sacred choral music for Ascension and Pentecost

There are many reasons to look to the future "joyfully in hope" and with confidence. This is the message conveyed by the songs, motets and psalm settings that can be heard in this year's "cappella laurentia" concert program.

The motto comes from the motet "Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction. Hold fast to prayer" by Gottfried August Homilius, a pupil of Johann Sebastian Bach. Compositions by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, Thomas Tallis, Wolfgang Carl Briegel and Daniel Florey, among others, can also be heard.

The "cappella laurentia" is a Berlin project choir in which around 25 active and former singers from the Berlin Cathedral Choir perform songs and motets from the Renaissance to the present day under the direction of Wilfried Walter.

This year, three young virtuoso instrumentalists will also be performing.
