Caspar David Friedrich was inspired by the garden art of the 18th century. Some of his most famous paintings were created with landscape design in mind.
The lecture shows how the painted landscapes of the Romantic period corresponded to garden art ideals and how Friedrich used real landscapes as material for his paintings.
