The iron is heated in an open fire, hammered with hammers and air hammers to shape it into the desired form. Forging is about understanding and grasping the material. The process is like a kind of conversation between workpiece and person. The course is aimed at beginners, including small groups - the master blacksmith is of course present to help. Small workpieces such as hooks, nails, candlestick holders or Viking knives are produced. Individual wishes can be discussed in advance.
Birger Radsack is a master blacksmith and has trained as a work teacher at the Waldorf School. Further training in the field of free painting has opened up additional avenues for him.
