In keeping with the summer, the sea and the coastal landscape are the focus of the special exhibition at the Ehm Welk House. "The Fascination of the Sea" is the theme of the Bützow painter Wolfgang Severin-Iben. Titles such as "Old Fishermen's Houses", "Bodden Landscape", "Beach Guests" or "Road to Vitte" reveal the character of the 20 paintings on display.

Born in 1949, the painter has devoted his entire life to painting, against all odds. Quote: "I see and feel art - indeed fine art, which is my whole endeavor - as an entrusted living stream, a good giver of the perceptible soul."

He was already active in the 1970s, using empty rooms to work, painting outdoors a lot and having his first exhibition opportunities. Nevertheless, he was considered an outsider and provocateur. Difficult times, including a ban on exhibitions, did not stop him from going his own way. He remained true to his "attempt at life as a painter and author".
