Ceremonial inauguration of the replicas of the life-size figures of Mary with the Child, Peter and Paul at the north portal in St. Mary's in Stralsund, which were produced true to the original late medieval models using 3D printing.
The group of figures was removed from the wall niches of the north portal during the First World War to protect them from weather and war damage. Since then, they have been on display in the church itself. The wall niches are now being refilled with replicas made true to the original. The color scheme is based on historical findings of the originals from around 1430. After more than a hundred years, the historical façade view of the Paradise Portal is being restored. It will stand in clear contrast to the much more recent monument directly in front of it, the obelisk erected in 1967, which stands in the middle of a war cemetery from the Second World War. The completion of the north portal is a first step in the redesign of Neuer Markt, which the city will be tackling from 2025.
