Piano trios by Schumann, Arenski and Beethoven
It's not unusual for three school friends to form a band. But a classical ensemble that lasts for years? This is definitely something special. Mathieu van Bellen (violin), Ori Epstein (cello) and Omri Epstein (piano) attended the Royal College of Music in London together, stayed together and formed their piano trio in 2012, which they named after one of their musical role models, the violinist Adolf Busch. Today, the artists live in Amsterdam and are one of the world's most renowned trios. In 2018, they won the Ensemble Prize of the MV Festival and are now returning to the festival summer with classics of their genre. In addition to pieces by Schumann and Beethoven, the trio will also perform a work by Anton Arenski, probably the least well-known composer in this program. However, his piano trios are considered masterpieces, characterized by verve, inventiveness and humour.
