It's blues time: musicians from the international blues scene will be visiting Binz this year from 6 to 9 June for the multi-award-winning Blue Wave Festival Binz. Buzzard & Maass (AUS | DEU)
Australian musician Pugsley Buzzard followed his intuition and friendship with drummer Micha Maass and came to Germany in 2018. Since then, the two have been working on band projects together and touring as a duo to realize their love for obscure sounds and lyrics from New Orleans.
They dive deep into the heat of the New Orleans night and musically describe the melting pot of rhythmic peculiarities of the barrelhouse piano style and the stride piano style, mixed with the energetic songs from the time of the tight dance and the wild Speak Easy parties. The two are inspired by the greats of the time such as Jo Jones, Willie the Lion Smith, Fats Waller & co.
Their band album was nominated for the German Record Award in 2022, and Micha Maass received the Blues Award for Best Drummer for the fourth time this year.
An evening full of joy and passion awaits you with these two exceptional musicians and if you want to dance, don't hold back. Good entertainment.
