Musical introduction to the 78th Greifswald Bach Week in cooperation with the Gesellschaft zur Förderung der Greifswalder Bachwoche e.V.

with Dr. Tilman Beyrich (press spokesman of the Greifswald Bach Week) and Professor Frank Dittmer (University of Greifswald) In the anniversary year of the painter Caspar David Friedrich, the 78th Greifswald Bach Week is all about Romanticism. Professor Frank Dittmer, Artistic Director of the Bach Week, together with Professor Dr. Michael Sauthoff, Chairman of the Greifswald Bach Week Society, and Press Spokesman Dr. Tilman Beyrich, will introduce the varied program and present illustrious concerts, musical guests and special concert venues. Highlights include two performances of the St. Matthew Passion in the romantic version by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy (1829) in Greifswald and Szczecin, as well as concerts at newly discovered locations such as the Botanical Gardens or the Museum Harbour and the prizewinners' concert of this year's cantateBach! international singing competition as part of a Caspar David Friedrich evening in St. Nikolai Cathedral. The Bach Week presentation will be illustrated by musical contributions from Lars Grünwoldt (bass) and Raik Harder (piano) and an ensemble from the cathedral choir. In addition, the composer Immanuel Ott will present the oratorio Hor che tempo il dormire, a work commissioned by the Greifswald Bach Week, in an interview.
