Three-part ballet evening with choreography by Xenia Wiest and Jonathan dos Santos Music by Johann Sebastian Bach and Francesco Tristano
"What drives me about baroque music is the minimalism. This rhythm is like a kind of primal techno, very ritualistic in its form - and that has always motivated me." (Francesco Tristano)
First, ballet director Xenia Wiest takes us on a journey into the past. The ballet evening begins with Ashes, one of her creations from 2019, which she created for the Jeune Ballet in Lyon to Johann Sebastian Bach's Chaconne - in an arrangement for orchestra. The evening will continue with new creations by Jonathan dos Santos and herself, and here, too, everything will revolve around Bach's oeuvre.
For the ballet evening, Xenia Wiest was able to secure the services of musician and pianist Francesco Tristano, who fills concert halls all over the world. Francesco Tristano has made a name for himself in the classical music scene, particularly with his interpretations of Bach, but is also at home in the electronic music scene and is a DJ. For Bach - Past, Present & Future, Francesco Tristano will record works by Bach himself and compose a piece specially commissioned for Ballett X Schwerin. Bach and ballet in the here and now for the future.
