You love painting. Then let us surprise you. In the south of Wismar, only 10 minutes walk from the market place, is the Atelier-Galerie Jürgens.

Only a 10-minute walk from Wismar's marketplace, at Goethestraße 4, is the Atelier-Galerie Jürgens. Manfred W. Jürgens, a representative of New Realism, presents a selection of his works in bright rooms and offers a glimpse of panel paintings currently in progress.
In a world of over-staging that has become chronic, Jürgens is searching for the concrete, for precision and clarity. When a pictorial idea flows through the soul via the experience in the eye and experiences new formulation via the brush on the canvas, then that is pure painting! Fashions and trends remain outside.
The realistic painting wants to represent the things of life precisely, as they are, without embellishment. But what is realism anyway? Experts argue about this question. For no matter how "true to life" the artist may depict something, his painting always bears his own signature. Every painting is an abstraction, and so is realism.
Portraits of people and animals, still lifes and seascapes - deceptively beautiful and not infrequently disturbing.

Opening hours:

Whitsun: Sat-Mur 10am-1pm.
