Ars Musica "Romanticism and the sea"

The Thuringian male choir "Ars Musica" was founded in 1994 by former singers of the boys' choir of the Suhl Philharmonic Orchestra and has since developed into an independent ensemble with supra-regional significance and international concert experience. The singers come from all over Germany and abroad to their home town of Suhl for a monthly weekend rehearsal and thus maintain their concert activities.

Today, "Ars Musica" has over 30 singers between the ages of 20 and 58 and is a member of the Association of German Concert Choirs. The roots of the choir go back to 1972, when Hubert Voigt founded the Suhl Boys' Choir. Maik Gruchenberg has been the artistic director since 2018.
The ensemble is dedicated to the cultivation of traditional male choral singing as well as the performance of contemporary works from the demanding choral literature. Highlights of the choral history of "Ars Musica" include concert tours to China, South Africa, Chile, Japan, Portugal and Romania as well as participation in international choral competitions in Kaluga (Russia), Prague and Wernigerode, where "Ars Musica" was awarded the Golden Diploma in the category "Sophisticated Male Choir Singing".
