The tour starts at the foot of Schwerin's fairytale castle in the direction of Schwerin's outer lake, accompanied by the reflection of the castle's backdrop on the blue water surface. If there are strong waves, we recommend an alternative route across the Heidensee and Ziegelsee lakes. From Paulsdamm, the trip leads to Hohen Viecheln at the northern tip of the lake. Shallow banks offer numerous opportunities to rest along the way. Wiligrad Castle with its romantic park and the small town of Bad Kleinen invite you to take an extensive shore excursion. On the eastern shore, wonderful bathing spots entice you to take a dip in the cooling water.

Past the protected peninsula of Ramper Moor, a paradise for frogs, white-tailed eagles and snipe, you return to the Paulsdamm, which lies embedded in a wilderness of alder and willow swamps. South of it, the wooded shores of Schwerin's inner lake stretch to considerable heights. Here kingfisher, wren and tawny owl have an ideal habitat.

The islands offer fantastic places to moor and rest. From the lookout tower on Kaninchenwerder Island, a magnificent panorama extends over the lake landscape. In the south of Lake Schwerin, Raben Steinfeld, Mueß and Zippendorf invite you to an interesting shore excursion.

Water profile

Demanding waters. In case of strong waves always stay close to the shore. As an alternative route on the western shore, we recommend the tour across Heidensee and Ziegelaußensee. Good infrastructure. Mooring is prohibited in the nature reserves Döpe, Ramper Moor and on the island Ziegelwerder.
