The Schwerin station mission cordially invites all interested parties to a discussion on its premises. As part of the "Talks on the Blue Bench" series of events, we want to discuss the topic of "Poverty in Schwerin" with representatives from local politics and administration as well as other guests.
The aim of the event is to take a closer look at the situation of people affected by poverty and those at risk of poverty in Schwerin and to discuss possible solutions for overcoming poverty and homelessness.
To mark the International Day to Overcome Poverty, a day of action was held at Schwerin's main railway station in October 2023 together with Caritas im Norden. During these talks on the Blue Bench, various people reported on their observations, experiences and adventures. These included employees of the CariSatt store and the Caritas day care center for people in special circumstances in Keplerstraße, as well as an employee of our school social work at the Astrid Lindgren School and a volunteer from the Schwerin station mission. But people affected by poverty also had their say and thus directly or indirectly contributed their very personal views on the topic.
Freelance journalist Michaela Skott will also be moderating the afternoon at this event and leading the discussions with our guests on the Blue Bench. Martina Trauth, Head of Social Affairs, Mandy Pfeifer (SPD) and Peter Brill (LINKE), chairing the State capital Schwerin's Committee for Education, Sport and Social Affairs, have also confirmed their attendance.
