Gallery in the Sparkasse Mecklenburg-Strelitz shows oil paintings until 8.4.24
Milkers, bottle collectors, young mothers and boys eating ice cream are the protagonists of Juliane Schönhauser's new exhibition, which is currently on display at the Sparkasse Mecklenburg-Strelitz gallery. "I capture everyday scenes, highlight them and create something new," says the artist. She sees painting as the antithesis to the fast pace of the internet. For Juliane Schönhauser, the focus of her work lies in oil painting, which is very tactile and a bit like building a sculpture by applying individual layers.
The artist, who studied German and art history at the Humboldt University in Berlin, has been living with her family in the Feldberg lake district for one and a half years. So far, she has had a number of smaller exhibitions in Berlin galleries. In Neustrelitz, 15 works are on display, four of which, including the breastfeeding woman with baby, are being shown to the public for the first time.
Juliane Schönhauser's works can be seen in the gallery of the Sparkasse headquarters in Neustrelitz, Strelitzer Straße 27, until April 8.
For more than 30 years, the Sparkasse has been supporting artists in the region and demonstrating the creative potential that exists here. Since then, well over 100 exhibitions have attracted art connoisseurs and art lovers to the bank's gallery.
