"We are all hungry for community, we are all hungry for justice, we are LÜTZERATH"
In "Lützerath", the film meets activists of all ages who are interested in much more than that: changing the system is close to their hearts. Self-organized and creative, they are building their utopia of a good life in the village.
Wooden houses are built in the trees and on the ground using recycled materials, and food is cooked in the Küfa - the kitchen for everyone. There is culture, festivals and workshops. Meetings are held every day to organize all of this without hierarchy - a challenge. They succeed in building a different world: more loving, funnier, more compassionate, more self-determined and more creative.
More and more people from outside are joining them and sharing their labour, time, materials, a lot of joie de vivre and the confidence that a different world is possible.
In the end, Lützerath is forcibly cleared in favour of climate-hostile coal mining, legitimized by political decisions on a flimsy basis, for the profit interests of Europe's dirtiest opencast lignite mine.
The certainty remains: Only many together can be the sand in the gears to shape a necessary system change.
