The Stralsund parish of St. Mary's is carrying out the innovative light art project "Light of Peace and Reconciliation" with Stralsund-born artist Sandra Bergemann to mark the Easter holidays.
Sandra Bergemann has designed a choreography for light from over 70 spotlights, which will shine out of the large windows of St. Mary's Church. Visitors can experience the approximately half-hour production, including sound recordings, from the Neuer Markt.
Admission is free. The well-known actress Ute Lubosch has been engaged for the sound recordings.
In terms of content, Sandra Bergemann's choreography of the lights deals with the man Jesus as a symbol of peace and reconciliation. The performances will be thematically adapted to the respective holiday: On two evenings and on the Easter Vigil, different biblical themes are at the center of the production - from the cleansing of the temple to the resurrection. The entire play will be repeated on the evening of Easter Sunday.
For the first time, an architectural body is not seen as a projection surface, but the effect of light is the focus of the artistic work.
