Contemporary art exhibition in the St. Peter's Church in Rostock

Jérôme Chazeix is interested in staging. His monumental installations are made of textiles, can be walked on and form sensual sculptures. In Rostock, the Berlin artist will deal with the remnants of the past and transform the city's history into a composition for our present.
The traces of Rostock's glorious past are difficult to uncover. What do these traces of the past convey to us? They are like a kind of memento mori, traces that people leave behind on the earth, their transience, fragility, a transmission of regeneration. What remains? These impressions of the past are reproduced in large, monumental textile works. The textile works become like large sails, offering themselves to the sea or the wind, or a nave, as a metaphor for the unpredictability of the factors of time. The strong metaphorical image of the ship and the sea as a symbol for the challenges of our society also comes into play.
