Exhibition opening

With six paintings, more than 60 drawings and prints as well as numerous archival documents and letters, the Pomeranian State Museum has one of the most extensive collections of Caspar David Friedrich's life and work in the world. The special exhibition presents this collection almost in its entirety for the first time and brings it into a dialog with treasures such as the christening entry from 1774, invited birthday guests such as the "Winter Landscape" from the State Museum SSGK, Schwerin and the "Flat Landscape on the Greifswald Bodden" from the Museum Georg Schäfer, Schweinfurt. Together with works by his colleagues, Friedrich's "lifelines" are thus traced from his first attempts at drawing to his late work as a painter. Free admission Under the patronage of Claudia Roth, Minister of State for Culture and the Media. Supported by: The Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, Ministry of Science, Culture, Federal and European Affairs Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Fund for Western Pomerania and Eastern Mecklenburg, Ostdeutsche Sparkassenstiftung together with the Sparkasse Vorpommern Foundation, Kulturstiftung der Länder, University and Hanseatic City of Greifswald, 250 Years of Caspar David Friedrich, University and Hanseatic City of Greifswald - Office for Education, Culture and Sport, Königsstuhl National Park Center. With Caspar David Friedrich through the year 2024 - we are part of it!
