Church Event, Classical Music

Flutes and organ Susanne Ehrhardt flutes(Berlin) + Sergej Tcherepanov organ(Lübeck)

Classical music everywhere - that is the motto of the Kammerphilharmonie Köln. It makes no difference to our musicians whether they are playing in a small village church, in the open air, in Cologne Cathedral or in the Sydney Opera House - their joy of playing is the same every time.

The aim is simple - we want to inspire as many people as possible for classical music across all generations.

The Kammerphilharmonie was founded in the city whose name it bears: Cologne. The city that is famous worldwide for its music academy and its music and instrumental teachers. For decades, generations of musicians have been trained here who are unparalleled in the world in terms of musicality. Using these talents, a core of outstanding musicians has grown up who, in changing line-ups, carry our motto out into the world.

Since November 2009, the Kammerphilharmonie Köln has had a special partner at its side: the Mercedes-Benz Center Cologne. As part of a creative collaboration, the world-famous company has made a comfortable tour bus available through its Cologne branch, which is enthusiastic about our musical concept. This enables our musicians to travel quickly and comfortably to the various concert venues. In return, the Kammerphilharmonie organizes special concerts for special customers of the dealership in close cooperation with the Mercedes-Benz Center Cologne. To this end, the remarkable building of the Mercedes-Benz Center is transformed into a concert palace in a class of its own. The scent of new cars mingles with the sounds of classical music.

The Kammerphilharmonie Köln is at home all over the world. Our tours regularly take us to New Zealand, Australia, Spain, Great Britain, Ireland and many other countries - and of course Germany. The selection of works and soloists is of particular importance. Thanks to the diverse composition of the ensemble, the Kammerphilharmonie Köln gives each of its members the opportunity to present themselves as a soloist.

The constantly expanding repertoire of the Kammerphilharmonie consists of hand-picked pieces. The special appeal of our programs lies in the encounter between popular and unknown works from a wide range of musical eras. Familiar greats such as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Vivaldi enter into a dialog with works from Sergei Prokofiev to tango king Astor Piazzolla. This mixture promises great variety at the highest level, without us raising our musical index finger. After all, music should entertain, not instruct.

Inspiring people all over the world for classical music - that is our maxim.
