Three events to mark the anniversary
SINGING * DANCING * THINKING - What would our society be without singing? What would our church service be like without sung proclamation? Why do we sing today? And: how will we sing tomorrow?
To mark this special anniversary, there will be three practical evenings entitled "On everyone's lips", looking back at cherished traditions, exploring dances in the hymnal, discovering the new sacred song and posing the question of the future of church music and singing.
Friday, April 5, 2024, 7 pm, "If they don't sing it, they won't believe it"
with Eugen Eckert (Frankfurt/M.), theologian and one of the most prominent contemporary hymn writers. Creator of around 2000 New Spiritual Songs, many of which are very well known and can be found in the hymnals of all Christian denominations in German-speaking countries. The founder, lyricist and musician of the band HABAKUK will explore the question of what should make up a hymn text and sing with the audience.
Monday, July 1, 2024, 7 p.m., " Jesus on the mainline, tell him what you want", singing with jazz, gospel, pop & co. and the liturgy of tomorrow.
with Micha Keding (Verden), freelance bassist, jazz and church musician, speaker for gospel workshops and director of studies at the regional church in Hanover.
Monday, November 4, 7 p.m., "They can rejoice in their hearts, can dance and jump and cheer", discovering hymns as dances.
with Prof. Siegfried Macht (Bayreuth), Professor of Church Music Education in Bayreuth
Admission is free in each case.
