20 years of the Zarrentin Gospel Choir - the big anniversary concert with the Ciscoes

Zarrentin has long been a cultural center in the region with a comparatively extensive range of events. But something was still missing. There needed to be another choir with popular songs, no pop hits, no classical church music. At least that's what pastor Jürgen Meister and organist Elmar Roetz thought. So the idea for a gospel choir was born and spread around the town. Roetz took over the direction. The year was 2005.
Five women from Zarrentin were enthusiastic about the first rehearsal; some with and some without choir experience, some with good and some with little knowledge of English. Roetz was also entering new musical territory by leading a gospel choir. From the very beginning, the focus was on the joy of singing, having fun in the community and musical development. Joy, power and skill became the choir's trademarks.
The incredibly strong identification of the citizens of Zarrentin with "their" gospel choir was an important pillar for further development right from the start. Today the choir has 30 members. The extensive repertoire ranges from traditional and modern gospel to groovy pop and swing. Today, Barbara Rupp conducts the choir. With her, the choir has been able to take the next steps in its musical development.
You can also expect joy, power and skill at our anniversary concert. You can look forward to a varied program with old hits and new titles. Of course, there will once again be a number of songs that you can sing and clap along to.
