Museum of local history Sternberg
The museum of local history is located in the oldest house in the town of Sternberg. In a total of 14 exhibition rooms, the prehistory and early history of the town is presented here, among other things. For geologically interested visitors, the department with the scientific preparation of the "Sternberger Kuchen", a fossil-rich sandstone, which was formed millions of years ago in the shallow sea water, is interesting. The finds come from the area between Sternberg and the Elbe-Lübeck Canal. In addition, visitors to the local history museum can immerse themselves in the living and kitchen world of past decades, old traditional costumes, a barbershop from the late 18th century or an old cobbler's workshop. Constantly changing themed exhibitions and project days such as "Washing like in grandmother's time" acquaint visitors with the domestic customs of old times.
