The dance drama FIRE is the prelude of the elements cycle with the probably most impetuous of all elements, without which the cultural history of mankind would be unthinkable!
Fire, water, air and earth - the four elements are the ancient image of a longing for knowledge. What does the world consist of at its core? Where is man in relation to nature? What mysterious forces drive the movements of stars, planets, plants, animals and people?
In addition to the dance retelling of great literary materials, the Deutsche Tanzkompanie has also repeatedly confronted abstract themes such as the environment, flight, home and survival. Right at the beginning of the Elements cycle, which spans several seasons, the Deutsche Tanzkompanie turns to what at first glance appears to be the wildest, the most unpredictable of all elements with its production FIRE.
Without fire, the cultural history of mankind would be unthinkable. It has been with us since time immemorial. It has inscribed itself in our oldest myths and legends. As the living presence of the deity, as a warming and nourishing home, as a deadly fire command, as the fire of love or as a dangerous unruly force of nature, it has burned itself deep into our collective subconscious. We are children of fire! Burned and risen again, with a strong desire for warmth and light.
