This weekend, experience a journey through the more than 150-year history of Schwerin Castle. On Saturday, the "Historic Castle Festival" will take you back to the year 1857, and on Sunday, the festival will focus on state politics during the Open State Parliament Day.
Friday:
Already on Friday, the artisans set up their "Handmade" market in front of the castle bridge.
Saturday:
For the Historic Palace Festival, we turn back time to 1857. At 10 a.m., experience the festive entry of the Court and the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess into the (then) just-completed palace. The procession starts at the Prince's Room in the main station and ends at the palace portal. On this day, those who enter the palace will encounter figures from that time in magnificent robes, listen to the Grand Duke in audience, meet dancing lords and whispering ladies-in-waiting.
Sunday:
Back in the present at Schwerin Castle, visitors can go behind the scenes of state politics, meet members of parliament and tour rooms of Germany's palace that are not otherwise accessible.
