The Kröpeliner Tor, one of more than 20 former city gates in Rostock, gives its name to this lively university district full of exciting stories. On our three-hour city tour, we follow the development of this colorful district from a rural mill location to the urban present.
In contrast to the city center, which can look back on over 800 years of municipal law, the area of today's KTV was long undeveloped and characterized by meadows, gardens and ponds. This changed when shipping families, millers and workers from the up-and-coming shipyard industry settled in the area from the middle of the 19th century. Today, Kröpeliner-Tor-Vorstadt is a dynamic student district with numerous charming little stores, cafés, pubs and restaurants.
The beautiful facades conceal interesting anecdotes about important personalities and mysterious stories about crimes of times gone by.
