with Tobias Ginsburg
"The Western man is oppressed and feminized, he is threatened with extinction." This is the increasingly loud war cry of the anti-feminists, which has become a mantra of the resurgent right. It can be heard from hyper-aggressive masculists and hate-filled internet agitators, from testosterone-addled sexists and new-right misogynists. Tobias Ginsburg joined them undercover for a year to find out where these fears and all the hatred come from.
His research takes him across Germany and the internet, to the USA and Poland. He meets radical right-wing fraternity members and fascist rappers, online trolls and offline thugs, incels and identitarians, is taught how to be a "real man" and accompanies muscle-bound neo-Nazis as they recruit young men. And finally, he comes across an internationally active network of anti-feminist fundamentalists. An oppressive and comical journey into a deeply dangerous world in our midst.
Tobias Ginsburg, born in 1986, is an author and director. He studied dramaturgy, literature and philosophy. In 2016 he was a fellow of the Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg, and in 2020 he received the Grenzgänger scholarship from the Robert Bosch Foundation. He spent years researching right-wing networks for his book.
