Rare and significant habitats in the Southeast Rügen Biosphere Reserve

In this "cultural landscape" of the Southeast Rügen Biosphere Reserve are strictly protected habitats, which are now nature reserves. There I show them the unique flora and fauna living on the diverse protected habitats.

On salt and wet meadows live rare birds with their magnificent or plain plumage. In kettle bogs in forests very rare plants bloom with the most magnificent flowers. In meadows, which may still be real meadows, flutter small and large colorful butterflies.

In ancient forests, venerable giant trees stand in spring on forest floors rich in flowers, and from tree hollows the tawny owl watches me take pictures.
