Julian Gast, born in Leipzig in 1999 and raised in a family of musicians, has been playing the piano since the age of 6. He has performed at venues including the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, the Laeiszhalle Hamburg, the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Rudolf-Oetker Halle Bielefeld and the Paderhalle Paderborn. Julian Gast has already worked with major orchestras such as the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, the Philharmonisches Orchester Vorpommern, the Neubrandenburg Philharmonie, the Norddeutsche Philharmonie and has also performed at numerous festivals such as the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the Bachfest Rostock, the Gezeiten-Festival, the Vielsaitig Festival, the Musiktage Hitzacker and the Lüneburger Bachwoche. Julian Gast has won prizes at several national and international competitions, such as the International Youth Competition in Essen and the International Carl Maria von Weber Competition in Dresden. In 2019, Julian Gast won 2nd prize at the renowned Tonali Competition in Hamburg as well as the Christoph Eschenbach Special Prize, which was awarded by Eschenbach himself.After his first lessons at the age of 5, he studied at the Lübeck University of Music with Prof. Jacques Ammon. In 2012, Julian Gast was accepted as a junior student at the Lübeck University of Music. In 2016, he transferred to the Rostock University of Music and became a junior student at the Young Academy with Prof. Matthias Kirschnereit. At the age of 17, Julian Gast began a Bachelor's degree with Prof. Kirschnereit and graduated with distinction in 2022.since the summer semester of 2022, he has been completing his Master's degree with Prof. Jacques Rouvier at the Mozarteum Salzburg.he received further inspiration from Prof. Arie Vardi, Prof. Bernd Goetzke, Janina Fialkowska, Lise de la Salle and Prof. Douglas Humpherys.Julian Gast has been supported by numerous foundations (Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben, Marie-Luise Imbusch-Stiftung, Hans und Eugenia Jütting-Stiftung, Stiftung Niedersachsen) and was accepted into the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes in 2020.
