Two years have passed since the Russian attack on Ukraine and the war is still raging. Together with Nord Haus Ukraine e.V., SIČ e.V. and the Miteinander-Maa'an e.V. association, the Mecklenburg State Theater invites you to take a moment to pause and reflect: People are "tired of war" it says, we invoke the alliance of "peace vigils"! The great Ukrainian writer Sherij Zhadan writes when he receives the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade in 2022 in the midst of the war: "What do Ukrainians want most of all? An end to the war, of course. Peace, of course." But he calls for the category of "justice" to be added to the category of "peace", because otherwise the demand for peace would quickly become one that requires the weaker parties to lay down their weapons. Fine, but how do we then achieve what we long for? Not only in Ukraine, but also in other parts of the world or on our doorstep? With texts, music, conversation and space for encounters, we approach these complex questions and nourish our longing: Hope for peace.
Members of the Mecklenburg State Theater ensemble will be joined by artists who have fled Ukraine and other allies.
