5th competition film of the 18th Ahrenshooper Filmnächte, moderated by Dietmar Kraus
MILK COW by Sophia Bösch (D/CH, 2024, 97 min)
A village at a time not too far removed from our own. As the daughter of an outsider, Skalde (Mathilde Bundschuh) has fought hard for her place in the village community, distancing herself from her mother Edith (Susanne Wolff) in the process. One day, Skalde finds a strange child in the forest and takes it in, although the isolated community under the leader Pesolt (Ulrich Matthes) is suspicious of strangers. In order to save the child, mother and daughter must stick together after years of estrangement.
