Greifswald Koeppentage "Seagulls" World Travels with the Soul Birds of the Sea by Holger Teschke

A new book in the "Naturkunden" series

Seagulls are birds of hope and birds of terror. On the high seas, they herald both the saving harbor and deadly storms. Holger Teschke has known them since his childhood in Sassnitz on the island of Rügen and his time sailing on fishing boats across the Baltic and North Seas. His journey with the seagulls follows their migrations across the seven seas and through the art of the centuries, from Caspar David Friedrich to Wolfgang Koeppen, from the North Atlantic to the Pacific.

Holger Teschke, born in Bergen auf Rügen in 1958, sailed at sea until 1980, then studied drama directing in Berlin and works as a director and dramaturge. He writes plays, radio plays, travel books and poetry. He dedicated his first volume in Judith Schalansky's Naturkunden to herrings.
