Die Seenotretter - Going out when others come in
Jörg Westphal is the full-time head of the DGzRS Information Center MV in Warnemünde and has been a volunteer rescuer for more than 35 years. In his lecture "From the rowing lifeboat to the sea rescue cruiser", he presents the development of the sea rescue service in Germany since the foundation of the society in 1865 until today. What it means to go out to sea in a storm to help seafarers in distress is illustrated by Jörg Westphal using real-life examples of operations.
