The world is in an acute crisis, but the political left is treading water. Has being on the left fallen out of time? Once set out to fight for a better life for all, the left must now fear for its political survival, paralyzed by populism and discord. The former cultural mayor of Berlin and one of his party's most popular politicians is radically rethinking left-wing politics. Looking at history, his own experiences of upheaval, crises and fears of the future, he provides answers to the pressing questions of our time: How can we make our world fairer, more liveable and more sustainable?

"For me, Klaus Lederer is one of those politicians whom I don't just trust, but from whom I learn something new time and time again. This book is further proof of that." Igor Levit

Klaus Lederer was born in Mecklenburg in 1974 and grew up in Frankfurt (Oder). He was elected state chairman of the Left Party in Berlin in 2005. From 2016 to April 2023, he was Mayor and Senator for Culture and Europe in Berlin.
