An exhibition of works from Schwerin art classes. On display are linocuts created at a Schwerin school during the turn of the century 1933/34.
The prints show the old town of the former residence as well as new buildings and the surrounding area.
They were created by high school graduates from the classes of 1933 and 1934 at the Schwerin Realgymnasium (today's Friedensschule).
Even without explicit political symbols, the sheets clearly show the changes in school, social and cultural life at that time.
Thanks to the excellent records of the Realgymnasium - even the Abitur essays of all students have been preserved - the considerable influence of the new rulers on the Mecklenburg school system is also made tangible through photos and documents, as are the consequences of compulsory service in the "Hitler Youth".
The exhibition was created in cooperation between the Mecklenburg Foundation and the State capital Schwerin.
It was curated by Dr. Jakob Schwichtenberg.
Admission: 3,00 EUR (children and young people up to the age of 18 free)
