Exhibition, Lecture & Science

PUBLIC GUIDED TOUR In this special exhibition, the Rostock Museum of Cultural History presents one of the largest historical books in the world and its patron Christian I. Louis, one of the most interesting Mecklenburg personalities of the 17th century.

Get to know the courtly world of the 17th century and the intellectual interests of a prince who is one of the most interesting figures in the history of Mecklenburg in the 17th century. You can also marvel at the Rostock Great Atlas commissioned by the prince. The third largest book in the world measures 1.66 m x 1.02 meters and contains 32 elaborately designed maps. The atlas is an important source for science and is rarely exhibited for conservation reasons.
