Of carrot flutes and tin guitars: Kunstverein invites children to a vacation workshop at Schleswig-Holstein House

Leipzig artist Pierre Bosolum makes musical instruments out of things that others eat, build on, find in the forest or throw away. Children and young people aged 9 to 17 can experience how this works and how much fun it is during a two-day workshop at the Kulturforum Schleswig-Holstein-Haus Schwerin during the summer vacations. The workshops will take place on Sunday, July 28 and Monday, July 29.

Take carrots, wood or plastic pipes for sanitary use and a lot of imagination and experimentation, and you can turn them into carrot flutes, membrane insects, buzzing woods, tin guitars or other bizarre sound objects. And how do they sound? "The idea is to build sound objects in a way that uses the variety of possibilities of sound production and encourages creative experimentation. So build it, try it out and make the air vibrate, then it sounds," says Pierre Bosolum.

Anyone interested in this offer can register for the morning (11.00 am to 1.00 pm) and/or the afternoon (2.00 pm to 4.00 pm) on both days. Binding registrations, stating the desired time slot, are now being accepted by the Schleswig-Holstein-Haus on 0385 555525 or by e-mail amuck@schwerin.de.

At the halfway point of the workshop, the Schwerin Art and Museum Association invites you to a jazz concert with Pierre Bosolum on Sunday, July 28, at 5 p.m. in the garden of the Schleswig-Holstein House. In the concert entitled "danzas de pesadilla", the artist will present his own compositions for piano, loop machine, timpani and vocals. Many of the instruments he has built himself will also be used. Bosolum's improvised pieces of music are like expeditions: "Sometimes when I play, it feels like discovering a previously unknown plant species or a hidden rock drawing that has been waiting for me for a thousand years," he confesses. Admission to the concert and participation in the workshop are free thanks to funding from the Schwerin Art and Museum Association. Concertgoers can support the vacation workshop with a donation.

Pierre Bosolum from Leipzig is no stranger to Schwerin and the surrounding area. In the past, he has given several concerts at the sadly deceased "Klockenschauster" in Münzstraße and regularly leads international youth camps with an artistic focus at Dreilützow Castle.
