The harbor festival starts at 11.00 a.m. with a parade from the Wiek elementary school (Hauptstraße 35, 18556 Wiek) with the Wieker Blasmusikanten & various clubs.

2024 is the big Caspar David Friedrich anniversary year. The whole of Germany will be celebrating the 250th birthday of the famous Greifswald child. The north of the island of Rügen was also a frequent destination, place of inspiration and meeting point on Caspar David Friedrich's travels. He usually sailed back home from the harbor in Wiek, which we would like to take as an opportunity to tell the residents and guests of Wittow about the famous visitor and the goings-on in his time.
A fair like in Friedrich's time will enliven the harbor promenade in Wiek. This will also mark the 10th anniversary of the renovation of the Wiek chalk bridge this year. Matching artistic performances and anecdotes will be told on a fairground stage from the 19th century. Historical carousels and games invite visitors to marvel and join in. Connections to Kosegarten and Schinkel are presented to illustrate the influence of Friedrich and other Romantics on our Wittow towns right up to the present day.
Wittow associations are heavily involved in the preparation and presentation.

The flair of the festival will be enhanced by show stands with regional crafts and the involvement of regional players, inviting visitors to discover and try them out. The crew of the traditional sailing ship 'Hoffnung' and the Zeesboot 'SophiaTheresa' will set sail from the harbor with guests of the festival. A double horse-drawn carriage will offer rides for 'summer visitors'. The cultural association Falladaland e.V., newly established on Wittow, will present several short theater scenes, ranging from the woman in the red dress from Friedrich's famous chalk cliffs painting to farmer Gäntzschow from Fallada's novel "We once had a child". We also try to immerse ourselves in the culinary delights of the time, with malt beverage or barley juice and lemonade, with pork on a spit, fish of course and other delicacies. Live music from 19.00 with the Hirsch Park Trio and Tanja Roll.
