Exhibition in the Municipal Gallery Wollhalle.
Between intention and fate, willful as well as willless "fate" to classify the Güstrow sculptor and painter Henning Spitzer shows his current sculptural work. These new creations are adaptations of older figures created before the model, mostly in clay. The high relief plays a decisive role in the attempt to combine surface spaces and plastic sensuality. The almost 150cm high "Große Stele" as a version in cast stone stands for the new way of formulating.
The results of decades of passionate study of nature in drawing, plaster and bronze form the basis and framework of this exhibition of works. The designs lead to an open final state, ideally a living 'non-finito'. The focus is on the life-size figure group "The Rain Dance", an assemblage and current new version. In addition, the exhibition shows ways, breaks and working models for the creation of the bronze sculpture "Homage to Ernst Barlach".
The focus of "Fügungen" is on human states of mind. Self-doubt, but also anger to the point of destruction, can still be found in the traces of the edits. Happiness is found in the manic must-do - following an inner calling. The formal challenge remains in contrast to the fatefulness of being. Yet all the effort is worthwhile for the rare moments in which everything falls into place as if by itself, which sometimes simply occur - as if one were being led by the hand.
