Quatuor Ébène is also celebrating its anniversary: founded 25 years ago, it began its meteoric rise in September 2004 by winning the ARD Music Competition. For 20 years now, it has been one of the genre's exceptional phenomena, delighting audiences all over the world. The present program reflects this unprecedented career: it made its first recording with works by Joseph Haydn, and the cycle of Beethoven's complete string quartets - a live recording of concerts on five continents - crowns its impressive discography.
