Rozbeh Asmani, Wilko Hänsch, Bernd Kerkin, Hendrik Silbermann and Christin Wilcken are the five artists who were nominated by a selection jury and will offer an insight into the art scene in our federal state until September 1, 2024. Each of them will present and stage their works in a separate room.
ROZBEH ASMANI (*1983) from Greifswald deals with the influence of the color brands present everywhere in the media on the visual memory of the present. In his works, he combines inspirations from Western and Eastern culture.
Abstract painting dominates the work of Wilko Hänsch (*1944) from Hohen Viecheln. In his mostly small-scale compositions in oil or acrylic, one believes to discover sections of city layouts or landscapes.
BERND KERKIN (*1951) from Userin/ Groß Quassow places simplified symbols on seemingly monochrome surfaces. His use of color concentrates on natural, black and white tones. The enhancement of expression through painterly reduction is his main concern.
HENDRIK SILBERMANN (*1966) from Wangelin uses many artistic techniques. For example, he creates archives of interesting objects in photographs and searches for their poetry, regardless of their value. Black sculptures are also part of his repertoire.
CHRISTIN WILCKEN (*1982) from Rostock and Mühl Rosin transfers the technique of drawing into new dimensions. She expands the two-dimensionality of paper and creates a three-dimensionality through experimental formats.
