Sun | 25.08. | 10.00 a.m. | P + R parking lot at Greifswald station

The bike tour starts at 10.00 a.m. at the P + R parking lot at the train station (Bahnhofstraße) in Greifswald. The daily fee is 3 €.

Those wishing to travel to Greifswald by train will arrive from Stralsund at 9.50 a.m. (departure from Ribnitz-Damgarten is at 8.00 a.m.). Departure for cyclists who wish to travel together with their own car (bicycles on their own bike rack) from Ribnitz is at 8.30 a.m. on the market square in Ribnitz.

The participants cycle along the city wall out of Greifswald and change directly to the idyllic cycle path along the little river Ryck in the direction of the museum harbor. The first destination of the tour is the port of Wieck, with its famous wooden bascule bridge. It was built in 1887 following the Dutch model and connects the districts of Wieck and Eldena. The bridge is still opened by hand today.

Just a few meters away are the ruins of Eldena Monastery. The monastery was founded in 1199 as a Cistercian monastery on the Ryck and was the most important monastery in the region in the Middle Ages.

The next destination on the cycle tour is the castle of the Pomeranian dukes, Ludwigsburg Castle. Friedrich August von Klinkowström, a friend and companion of the painters Casper David Friedrich and Phillip Otto Runes, was born here in 1778. The state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has now approved funds for the complete restoration of the house. The park is definitely worth a visit. The participants will also enjoy a self-catering picnic lunch here.

The tour continues via Diedrichshagen to Potthagen Forest. This is owned by the University of Greifswald. The tour leads through beautiful villages with flowering front gardens and many small streams gurgling along the way.

Tour length: 42 kilometers

Route character: easy, some forest and field paths (not asphalted)

Catering: Self-catering lunch, coffee stop with picnic will be organized
