Reading on World Refugee Day

On June 20, World Refugee Day, participants in the intercultural writing project "Gefundene Briefe - letters found" will present their work. The resulting texts will be presented in two languages. The authors will read the works in their native language, and they will also be presented to the guests in a German translation.

The texts created as part of the project deal with flight and migration, tell personal stories, tell of their own lives, of (un)fulfilled wishes and hopes and of arriving in Germany.

The workshop was led by Omid Naghavi and Parvaneh Azizi. Both taught Persian literature and language at universities in Iran. Since 2023, they have been passing on their in-depth knowledge of Persian literature in literary reading courses in Rostock with the PKKS e.V. association.

The reading will be accompanied musically by Amir Asadi with his own pieces on the setar. Among other things, Amir Asadi has released his own album and recorded selected pieces for the BBC.

The aim of the "Gefundene Briefe - letters found" project is to promote intercultural understanding in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern through literary workshops and to strengthen migrant writing in the state. In the second part of the project (starting in September '24), the texts presented on June 20 will form the basis for the participants' work. They will work intensively with the texts and respond to them with their own literary works. The second part of the workshop in Rostock will be led by Silke Peters (poet, author, editor).

Registration for the workshop is possible by contacting Friedrich Brockmann at the following e-mail address: friedrich.brockmann@literaturrat-mv.de
