Polish Night
The NDR Bigband has maintained a close relationship with Poland for years and has performed with artists such as Bobby McFerrin in Warsaw and Krakow as well as with Tomasz Stańko and Quincy Jones in Gdansk. This night will feature a piece for big band, string quartet and vocals inspired by the Polish composer Krzystof Penderecki. The Polish Atom String Quartet and singer Olga Pasich- nyk, who has received the Golden Cross of Merit of the Republic of Poland among many other awards, will also be performing. Poland has established itself as an important jazz nation; its classical music continues to inspire international jazz. The NDR Big Band pays a magnificent and cheerful tribute to our guest country at the end of the concert.
