Although this year's Schönberg Music Summer film is set in the middle of the First World War, it is a film of hope, community and international understanding. At the center - very progressive for the time - is a young African-American vaudeville dancer. He meets four soldiers of different nationalities in a dugout in the middle of the turmoil of war. Will they meet as human beings, despite their "antagonism", or will their practiced narratives triumph over humanity?
Live music: This year, our long-time silent film composer and performer Veronika Otto (cello, vocals) will be playing together with percussionist Fabian Ernst (drums). Onnen Bock is the sound director. Together they create an iridescent world of sounds, a "no man's land" of sounds with their extensive range of instruments and sophisticated technology... With this film performance, combined with an extraordinary sound experience, we would like to send out a sign of hope!
