The "vocal collegium rostock" is celebrating its 70th anniversary with a festive concert on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 5 pm in the Nikolaikirche Rostock. The choir has prepared several new works.
The choir was founded on September 6, 1955 as the "Teachers' Choir". In 1995, the ensemble gave itself the name "vocal collegium rostock". Karl-Heinz Hahn, Herbert Schoof and, from 1987, Norbert Blumeier were the conductors. Daniel Arnold has been the artistic director since September 2015.
A large part of the program will be a fond look back at the highlights of recent years. This will include excerpts from choral symphonic works such as "Mass of the Children" by John Rutter, "Carmina Burana" by Carl Orff and "Symphonic Adiemus" by Karl Jenkins, accompanied by the "Mecklenburger Kammersolisten". Of course, pieces from the repertoire such as "Alta trinita beata" or "Gabriella Song" from the Swedish film "As in Heaven" will also be performed.
The singers are particularly pleased that there will be a part of the program in which former members will perform under the direction of long-time choir director Norbert Blumeier. The audience can look forward to a festive concert full of music and memories!
