CLEX documents the beginning of a new chapter in music-making with key-controlled wind instruments: Dynamic sensor technology makes it possible to send the work of the fingers on a wind instrument with a key mechanism "through a computer". The information can simply be transferred to the keys in the same way as a conventional mechanism, but it can also be stored or influenced externally.
The control system shown here has been deliberately implemented on such a large instrument as the contrabass clarinet: Such a large number of holes (continuous open chromatic tone holes or even quarter tones with 6 automatic overblowing keys) does not yet exist on any wind instrument!
The experiment is intended to inspire new ways of thinking and acting (improvising, composing, making music).
