Marten Schmidt, born in 1972, holds a degree in finance (FH). He grew up in Dranske on the island of Rügen and spent many years in the immediate vicinity of the restricted area on the Bug. He has been intensively involved with the history of the peninsula for several years and is one of the founding members of the Bug citizens' initiative.
