"I wonder when that will start. When does it start? When does life start? "After leaving school, Rosie only wanted to go away for a quarter to find out what she wants and perhaps find happiness. But when she returns to the family home, nothing seems to be the same: her older sister Paula wants out of her role as wife and mother. Her brother Benjamin struggles to keep up with the lifestyle of his colleagues. Her older brother Marko wants to be read as a woman. And her parents, Robert and Franziska, would so much like to and yet can't do everything right. With the children out of the house but not quite settled in life yet and a few years to go until their parents retire, the Voss family have to completely reorganize themselves. Rosie is not the only one trying to reflect on everything she knows for sure.In Things I Know To Be True, premiered in 2016 by The State Theatre Company of South Australia and Frantic Assembly, Andrew Bovell follows his characters over the course of an entire year. With great compassion, close observation and a keen sense of tragedy and comedy, the Australian playwright asks what keeps a nuclear family together when their children grow up.
