Schubert / Bröder / Bruckner

Anton Bruckner described the 6th Symphony as his boldest, which was composed after a long creative break and which the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra enjoyed so much at a rehearsal that they applauded vigorously and gave a flourish. Bruckner did not live to see the premiere of his symphony and, above all, the success of this flowing, light-hearted and at the same time very personal work.
Together with Franz Schubert's overture to his melodrama The Magic Harp, the compositions in the program frame the concerto for oboe and small orchestra by Alois Bröder, called Nuvole. The composer, whose extensive oeuvre has been performed on numerous stages in Germany and abroad, wrote this concerto for Viola Wilmsen, principal oboist of the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin and professor of oboe at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music. The work will now be premiered in Rostock under the direction of chief conductor Marcus Bosch.
